Lighting industry
LED is hot!
LED lighting continues to spread wildly throughout the world. At this moment, LED lighting accounts for 45%, in other words 10 billion euro, of the total lighting market worldwide. Experts expect this share to further increase to about 60% to 70% in 2020.
From functional design to pure ambiance
Apart from durability and energy efficient, there are also other factors that play a role in the rising popularity of LED lighting. The ancient bulb used to have a merely functional character. LED lighting on the other hand is becoming the true mood maker. Light designers nowadays have unlimited freedom when it comes to creativity and design. That’s why lighting fixtures are designed in a way that they are in line with the space, atmosphere and setting of their environment. It even goes so far that LED fixtures can take the colour of the object it is placed on. What’s next?
The rise of smart cities
LED applications challenge us as well to think ahead. What if for example street lights could besides giving light provide wifi, camera surveillance and a charging point for electric vehicles? Or what if light poles with sensors are able to gather information and adjust the level of light to their environment? This multifunctional way of thinking, the future smart city, is top of mind with quite some municipalities already. In the near future, we may definitely expect the smart city concept to find its way into our streets as well.
Customized connectors for every LED application
It’s obvious that we expect LED applications to perform better within a smaller space. At the same they need to remain manageable. Easy and foolproof to install and maintain. This calls for a careful selection of the right components. With LED connectors from A brands like Techno, JST and Zierick, A&C Solutions is able to offer you appropriate solutions for all hot LED topics in the market:
- Moulded IP68 connectors for outdoor LED lighting applications
- Extremely compact multipole connectors for LED control and Smart City applications
- Simple plug&play connector solutions for a fast and error-free installation & easy maintenance
- Durable PCB solutions

Techno masters all outdoor lighting issues
Connectors are used in many outdoor lighting applications. Whether it’s pool lighting, garden lighting, public lighting, the most discussed issues remain:
- Water resistance
- Space
- Installation (time)
With the xDRY series, Techno is able to tackle each of these challenging outdoor lighting issues.
IP682
The entire range of plug & socket, junction and tube connectors offers IP68 protection and is resistant to chlorine. Part of this range (Techno TH391 and TH392) even goes the extra mile and provides an extra anti-condensation layer. This additional waterproof layer prevents moisture condensation, which runs through the cable, from entering the connector. This means that the electrical and electronic parts of your application are protected at all times. So in fact, it is IP682 !
23mm and connected in no time
The Techno TH387 plug&socket and TH391 in-line connector are popular connectors in the lighting industry because of their euro coin size (23mm). This makes them ideal for use in small outdoor spaces. Techno also offers the possibility to work with piercing clip screws which reduces installation and maintenance time substantially (see video below). And these connectors can already be pre-assembled at the manufacturer’s site which makes installation child’s play and fault proof. Small, easy and quick to install. What more do you want?
Can it even be more compact?
Yes! Techno has added a new member to the xDRY connector family, the TH381. Size? 14mm!

The latest technology within the Techno xDRY family concerns the integration of twin-injection seals for waterproof installations (IP68). This special barrier prevents moisture condensation, which runs through the cable, from entering the connector and protects your application in critical conditions of use.
