Waterproof JWPF connector with solid rubber sealing

21 December 2015

Most waterproof connectors are large in size, difficult to handle in a production environment and expensive. Meeting customer needs for a small form factor waterproof connector that is easy to handle and cost effective has been a challenge up to now.

With the introduction of the JWPF connector series, JST perfectly meets the demand for such small form factor waterproof connectors. The JWPF series offers an IP67 rate of protection and is made of a brass tin tab contact and a copper alloy tin plated receptacle contact. The contact system has a 3A rating and handles 26-22 AWG wires (insulation outside diameter 1,4 to 1,6mm).

The JWPF series has a unique construction in both the wire-to-wire and wire-to-board series:

  • A special seal ring is applied for complete sealing at the mating side within the header or in the tab housing (depending on the series). This seal ring protects the interface when mated from moisture, dirt, scratches and cracks.
  • Besides, a solid rubber seal is used for individual wire sealing. This supports the compact shape of the connector series.
  • Furthermore, the female contact has a double spring construction that ensures a superior contact force
  • Finally, JST uses an inner housing lock to secure the plug to the receptacle, preventing accidental disconnection.

With these unique features, JST offers an interesting all-in-one connector solution for compact, waterproof installations.
